Linda Humphries, founder of Paper Frogs, has been appointed to the UK Government’s Open Standards Board as co-chair.

The Open Standards Board advises the Cabinet Office on setting open standards for use across government, particularly relating to software interoperability, data and document formats. It reaches a consensus on whether a recommended standard should be adopted or made compulsory across government. It can also influence the work on standards to reduce the proliferation of unique or sector-specific standards that might risk creating information silos.

Linda is a long-standing advocate of open standards. She developed the UK Government’s Open Standards Principles in 2012. Since then she has collaborated with organisations such as Open Data Manchester and 360Giving on the development and promotion of open data standards.

The Board will be co-chaired by Linda along with Dan Bailey, CTO at the Cabinet Office. The full list of members is published on GOV.UK.
